CompassSport Cup Rounds - 13 February 2022

The first round of the 38th CompassSport Cup qualifying events takes place on 13 February 2022.

​In the West Midlands, Harlequins Orienteering Club entertains three clubs in the Cup and eight in the Trophy at Postensplain.  The outcome looks to be a close affair when Derwent Valley Orienteers (DVO) and North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club (NGOC) will push Octavian Droobers (OD) hard for a place in the Final. The Trophy will also be keenly fought with two places to compete for in the Final.

Cup: Octavian Droobers (OD), North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club (NGOC), Derwent Valley Orienteers (DVO).  The winning team qualifies for the Final.

Trophy: Wrekin Orienteers (WRE), Walton Chasers (WCH), South Wales Orienteering Club (SWOC), Potteries Orienteering Club (POTOC), Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club (NOC), Leicestershire Orienteering Club (LEI), Harlequins Orienteering Club (HOC), City of Birmingham Orienteering Club (COBOC).  The first and second-placed teams qualify for the Final.

​In Devon, Quantock Orienteers host the event on Great Wood an area that has not been used for orienteering for many years together with the Ramscombe area. Will Devon defeat regular Finalists Bristol and Quantock take advantage of a home tie?
 

Cup: Devon Orienteering Club (DEVON), Bristol Orienteering Klub (BOK). The winning team qualifies for the Final.
 

Trophy: Wessex Orienteers (WSX), Cornwall Orienteering Club (KERNO), Quantock Orienteers (QO), Swansea Bay Orienteering Club (SBOC), Wimborne Orienteers (WIM). The winning team qualifies for the Final.

The East Anglia event organised by West Anglia Orienteering Club is a Trophy only event at Mildenhall Wood​ with two places in the final to compete for.
 

Trophy: Chigwell and Epping Forest Orienteering Club (CHIG), Essex Stragglers (SOS), Norfolk Orienteering Club (NOR), Suffolk Orienteering Club (SUFFOC), West Anglian Orienteering Club (WAOC), Lincoln Orienteering Club (LOG), Havering and South Essex Orienteering Club (HAVOC), South Midlands Orienteering Club (SMOC). The first and second-placed Trophy teams qualify for the Final.

West Cumberland Orienteering Club is organising the North West event at Hawse End in the northern Lake District near Derwent Water where the hosts, 2020 finalists, will be looking to win to secure a place in the Final in Scotland in October. In both the Cup and Trophy there is the possibility of two clubs qualifying for the Final in Scotland in October.
 

Cup: Lakeland Orienteering Club (LOC), West Cumberland Orienteering Club* (WCOC*), Manchester and District Orienteering Club (MDOC), Deeside Orienteering Club (DEE). The winning team qualifies for the Final. If West Cumberland Orienteering Club (WCOC) wins, then the second-placed Cup team also qualifies for the final. (Previous Final winners rule).
 

Trophy: South Ribble Orienteering Club* (SROC*), Border Liners Orienteering Club (BL), Pendle Forest Orienteers (PFO). The winning team qualifies for the Final. If South Ribble Orienteering Club (SROC) wins, then the second-placed Cup team also qualifies for the final. (Previous Final winners rule).

The second series of events take place on 12 and 13 March 2022, Scotland, Yorkshire and Humberside and the North East, South Central, and South East.
