This week will see the start of the World University Championships where Great Britain will have 12 athletes competing supported by Tom Bray and Jon Musgrave as Team Managers.
This year the event will be held in Magglinhen- Biel/Bienne and the hosts look forward to offering a fair and demanding competition in different types and terrain with a memorable stay at the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport.
Athletes will arrive at the event centre on Monday 15 August onwards ready for a busy week. The Sprint competition will start the event being held on Wednesday, will be followed by the Long distance on Thursday, Sprint Relay on Friday, the Middle distance on Saturday, and finishing with the Forest Relay on Sunday.
The Championships fall in what is a busy season for many of the athletes after a few years without International competitions. Cecilie Andersen will be hoping for a good competition run after picking up bronze in the Mixed Sprint Relay at the World Games last month and has been a regular part of the senior team putting in solid performances alongside Fiona Bunn.
Peter Molloy, Matthew Gooch, Flurry Grierson, Rachel Brown, and Pippa Carcas we all part of the team who travelled to the Junior World Orienteering Championships in Portugal where they face extreme heat and the risk of forest fires caused the postponement of the Forest Races, with Peter also being part of the senior team in the recent European Orienteering Championships. Chloe Potter also made her senior GB debut at European Championships and will be looking to build on her performances out there and this will be the first International this year for James Ackland, Laura King, Alastair Thomas, and Thomas Wilson.
There will be live productions from the Sprint Race on Wednesday (17 August) and from the Middle-Distance race on Saturday (20 August) which can be followed on the live centre here.
