James Hammond takes a silver medal at EYOC 2024!

22 June 2024

James Hammond, of Forth Valley Orienteers, has won a silver medal following the Long Distance Race at the European Orienteering Championships 2024.

The GB Athlete was just six seconds off a gold medal, an incredible effort from the Team GB Athlete, just narrowly missing out on a Gold Medal.

On a course which tested the athletes physical abilities on the hilly terrain, the Great Britain team had some fantastic results.

In the Mens 16 there were three athletes who all finished inside the top 20, with Finn Selmer Duguid taking a podium spot in 6th. Finlay McLuckie 14th, Marcus Perry 18th.

In the Womens Scarlett Kelly also secured a top 20 spot.

It's been a fantastic start to the competition and a full report will follow.

For now, congratulations and well done to James and the other athletes who completed the course today!
