JWOC 2024: Long and Middle Distance Results

Long Distance

The Long Race took place which consisted of mostly coniferous forest, and was mostly hilly, with little flat terrain.

Members of the Team GB Squad tackled the course, despite some setbacks due to poor visibility as a result of the weather. 

After two days of Sprint races, the Long distance race at JWOC offered a completely different challenge for the athletes. It was a 9.6/11.5 kms and 480/560 meters of climbing for the women and men respectively.

This course seemed to suit the host nations athletes very well with a gold, silver and bronze for the Czech’s in the Womens race. In the Men’s it was Switzerland’s Matthieu Bührer who took the title, with Zefa Faavae (NZE) in 2^nd and Daniel Bolehovsky (CZE) in 3^rd.

For the British Team Imogen Pieters once again had a good day, sitting inside the top 10 for a while before dropping to 14^th place. She was also joined in the top 20 by Euan Tryner who had a great race to finish 13^th.

Middle Distance 

Euan Tryner and Imogen Pieters were the highest placed GB finishers in the Middle distance race at JWOC.

Again, both athletes secured top 20 finishes, 17th (Imogen) and 19th (Euan) respectively.

Tomorrow will be the final day of competition with the Forest Relays.
