As part of a wider project, the Orienteering Foundation has announced a survey of volunteering in orienteering to gather data and inform future actions to help recruit, train and develop our volunteers and make their jobs easier and more enjoyable.
We all know that orienteering is highly dependent on volunteers but it seems that no one knows how much time is contributed by volunteers in different roles, what issues are faced by our volunteers (which vary by role), the reasons why some orienteers do or don't volunteer, etc.
The survey has the full support of British Orienteering and we encourage all UK orienteers (whether currently volunteering or not) to complete it. If we get enough responses, the results will help us to provide you with some valuable data on volunteering within your own club.
The deadline to complete the survey is Monday 28 April 2025 and one lucky respondent will secure themselves a £200 voucher for outdoor kit to be used at www.sportsshoes.com. There are also six other randomly awarded prizes of Kickback coffee bags.
