A virtual orienteering competition provided some orienteering fun whilst real orienteering had been cancelled.
Nearly 500 competitors from over 20 countries around the world took part in a variety of challenges from picking the best routechoice to orienteering virtually around the city of Chester using Google Streetview.
The overall winner was Casper Skeep from Sweden with the top British participant being Andrew Stemp of Airenteers.
GB Squad member Chris Smithard who coordinated the event said: "It was certainly a lot of work but definitely worth the effort! I just want to say a special thank you to Graham Gristwood, Craig Nolan, Katherine Bett and Simon Errington for their help at such late notice. Hopefully, we can take what we learnt from this one and make the next even better!”

These were developed during Lockdown to help teachers and parents introduce children to the concepts of orienteering. The resources include animated videos, worksheets and slides - everything needed to get started – and can be used in any setting whether at home, school or in a park.
These great new resources are available here.
