We are sad to announce that earlier this morning (8th June) that Chris James has passed away after a long illness. He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy to the sport of orienteering.
Chris was the Chair of British Orienteering from 1975-78, the first British Orienteering Association Fixtures Secretary, Chair of the Events & Competitions Committee and one of the founder members of Southern Navigators amongst many other achievements in his 50 plus years of involvement in the sport which we will report on in full in the next few days.
We owe an unending debt of gratitude to Chris for his tireless contribution to our sport throughout his life, and the thoughts of everybody – both at British Orienteering and in the wider orienteering community – are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
