Calling all environment enthusiasts!
My name is Emma Monkman and I have recently been appointed as Access and Environment Officer for British Orienteering – “Hello!”
I am an environment and climate change academic and I am keen to utilize that knowledge in the world of sport. I am particularly passionate about ‘Green Tech’ and how we can implement these technologies in Orienteering.
One of my first initiatives will be to set up a network of Environmental Champions across the country. Ideally, I would like 1 per club but the more the merrier.
I will be setting up a series of online meetings and workshops where we can get together, share ideas, and discuss future plans.
I am linking in with the IOF Environment and Sustainability Commission and we will be taking part in trials and surveys as part of the International Orienteering Community. I will be conducting the first of these at the Try O event on the 25th of August 2021 at Hardwick Park – calculating carbon!
