Today British Orienteering is proud to shine the spotlight on...
British Orienteering Silva Award Winner and Runner Up.
This award is presented for the best map produced by a professional mapper.
Congratulations to Graham Gristwood (Forth Valley Orienteers), for the production of the Kinlochleven map.
Using Lidar data and an OS base map, this is a new map of a great area not used until September 2021, for a Scottish Urban League event.

The runner-up this year is Chris Smithard (Forth Valley Orienteers) for his work on Ben Shieldaig North.
This is a special area for the UK on the shores of Loch Torridon and voted, the favourite day of Coast and Islands 2021, by the participants. Out of 57 people who gave feedback after the event, 79% gave this day 5/5 and the other 21% gave it 4/5.
Check out the video of the day.
Chris Smithard (Forth Valley Orienteers), says: "Even though it is a small area it took a while to map, especially without lidar."
