As the International Orienteering Competition season is nearing the end, a team of 15 athletes and 3 staff will be making their way to Davos, Switzerland to compete in the World Cup Final from the 1st-3rd October.
Featuring medallists from the World Championships and World Games in the sprint disciplines earlier this year, the team will certainly hope to continue a successful team performance in the forest to round off the year.
The competition will start with the Relay event which will feature two women’s teams and three men’s teams. Sunday the 2nd October will hold the Middle with the long rounding up the competition on the 3rd October. All races will be held in alpine terrain with good runnability.
Overall, the reigning World Cup Champion Kasper Fosser will be hoping to maintain his lead in the World Cup standings after the European Orienteering Championships in Estonia scoring 222 points so far this season, with Martin Regborn in second and Gustav Bergman closely in third.
In the Women’s Tove Alexandersson appears to be on her way to an eight consecutive title leading with 307 points. Behind her is Simona Abersold and Venla Harju in third position.
