JWOC 2023: Individual Sprint Round Up

4 July 2023

Day 1 of JWOC hosted the Individual Sprint Race with courses taking place in the city centre of the county capital of Maramures.

The course offered fast running in the flat and open streets, but with many controls and tricky challenges on the long legs of both courses. In the end, many runners were challenged and lost valuable seconds during the last part of the race, however Great Britain’s Jim Bailey had a great race to secure a top 10 finish! The race was won by Germany's Anselm Reichenbach.

In the women's race, Rachel Brown had a very strong run to finish in the top 20, with Rita Maramarosi (Hungary) taking gold when she finished 24 seconds ahead of Pia Young Vik (Norway).

Jim Bailey powers through the individual sprint race to finish top ten!

The race will start at 14:30 GMT and Great Britain will have two teams:

Great Britain Team 1– Rachel Brown, James Hammond, Jim Bailey and Laura Brown

Great Britain Team 2 – Imogen Pieters, Ben Squire, Euan Tryner and Isobel Howard

Best of luck to both team's!
