The City Race Euro Tour came to Yorkshire at the weekend with over 750 participants tackling the courses set at the backdrop of Knaresborough Castle and on the Sunday - amongst Harrogate's attractions.
Despite occasional deluges on Saturday, there was a great atmosphere at the event, with the Deputy Mayoress adding to the participants already gleaned knowledge from the courses - taking a large group around the town post-race for a great heritage tour.
The inimitable 'Harrogate Hary' local tour guide led another expedition through the streets of Harrogate on the Saturday evening enthralling those who attended with his enthusiasm and knowledge and, looking back - a few visits to upcoming control sites the next day!
Harrogate Urban on Sunday proved a fantastic course, whatever your age and experience, with many interesting control sites thanks to kind permissions from council offices, many hotels, churches and even Claro's friends and families' own back gardens!! An accessible course, kindly supported by North Yorkshire Council, was introduced for the first time and was a great success.
Kind sponsorship from HMCA, Altra, Up & Running, Harrogate Chocolate Factory, Slingsby, Yorkshire Tea and Cold Bath Brewing made the event into a spectacle and a great template for other clubs to replicate! What a great advertisement for the sport; well done CLARO!
