The athlete announced her retirement last week after winning 10 world championship titles, 22 medals, 5 World Cup overall titles, 3 European championship titles and 12 World Cup wins over the course of her career.
Addressing her followers on Instagram she said: "Finishing as World Champion and world number 1 seems a good way to end 16 years in MTBO. I’m honoured to have shared so many podiums with both the historical greats and my idols, current champions and friends, and stars of the future."
The news comes just a couple of days after Emily's great success at the recent World MTBO Championships 2023 in Czechia, where she secured a Gold Medal in the Middle event and Silver in both the Sprint and Long Distance. What a phenomenal way to conclude a fantastic career!
