Deeside Orienteering Club delivered a brilliant Find Your Way Project activity over the Christmas holidays to families and young people in Cheshire.
Over 100 people enjoyed the club's Maprun activities, getting local families out to explore using the app. DEE found great success through a targeted social media and email campaign and utilising school contacts to help spread the word about the activity.
DEE's Iain Bell:
The park was very wet, but the activity took place largely in the dry. It was a successful event with lots of happy and engaged families. We were delighted that 137 children, parents and grandparents took part.
Families largely walked through the park, although some of the children raced. Everyone was provided with a map with the course and given guidance to set up the MapRun app on their mobile phone.
Thank you to the local schools who shared the details of this free activity for families. A particular ‘shout out’ to Cuddington School who had the most families taking part. Thank you also to Cheshire West & Chester Council & David James and Mel Bradley the Marbury Park Countryside Officers for their kind support.
We're looking forward to our next family friendly activity on Saturday January 20 at Little Budworth Country Park. This is also a schools league event. The Marbury Park and other Find Your Way courses remain available for people to try, at any time, in the future.
