Grace Molloy (12th in heat 2) and Fiona Bunn (19th in heat 3) were the only GBR athletes to qualify, with most of the the rest of the team just missing out with solid runs placing them just outside the top-20.

Team coach Tom Bray said:
“There was a lot of good orienteering from the team today, and everyone handled the heat and their racing well.
With large fields of athletes from the top-4 ranked nations (SWE, NOR, FIN, SUI), larger than at WOC, the EOC qualification race is one of the toughest to progress through.
Results didn’t go our way today, but it shows the quality in international field and you have to make your own luck. After a long hiatus from international forest racing, it was great to see so many GBR athletes racing well and learning how to approach the other races at this championship. Also, wonderful to see good GBR senior debuts from Lucy Walker and Luke Fisher”.
