Sarah (Southern Navigators Orienteering Club) is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine, an ex-international orienteer having represented Great Britain in 11 World Orienteering Championships and also now a parent to a junior international athlete, Tommy Rollins. Sarah therefore brings a huge variety and depth of relevant experience to support the strategic planning of the performance programme.
Sarah said “Those who know me won’t have failed to notice that I have a deep passion for our sport. I’m grateful for the chance to join a group that aspires to influence the opportunities for and potential performances of the next generation of orienteers who are the future of our sport”.
Jon (Forth Valley Orienteers) has been heavily involved in GB elite orienteering for nearly two decades, having been Chair of international selections, Senior squad manager, member of selection appeals panel and most recently as Assistant Director and Race Planner at WOC 2024 in Edinburgh. Jon brings a wealth of professional and orienteering specific experience to the group and demonstrated the attributes and attitude that we were looking for to support the performance programme most effectively.
Jon said "I know that the GB performance team is full of highly knowledgeable people who are passionate about developing athletes to achieve high performance and international success. I am really looking forward to getting involved with supporting them to do that".
Ruth Beale, Chair of the Performance Pathway Steering Group said “We were delighted with the number and quality of applicants to fill these positions and both Sarah and Jon proved they will be exceptional additions to support the programme. I am looking forward to getting started with the new group shortly. As always, if anyone has any items related to the British Orienteering Performance programme that they wish for the group to consider please do get in touch”.
