Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the highest level of decision making in British Orienteering beneath General Meetings with powers and procedures to exercise those powers laid down in the Articles of Association.

The Board meets 4 or 5 times a year in face to face meetings and consists of 6 directors elected by the membership, 3 independent directors appointed by a selection panel and the Chief Executive.

The Board is responsible for:

  • Establishing a 15-year programme of major international events to be hosted in the UK
  • Ensuring the Risk Register is maintained and that risk is managed
  • Ensuring all tangible and intangible assets are safeguarded including
  • Ensuring appropriate compliance procedures are in place and adhered to Ensuring that key performance indicators are set and monitored.
  • Overseeing the production of a five year Strategic Plan and an Annual Operational Plan
  • Setting the vision and values for Orienteering in the UK (with due consultation)
