Orienteering for families

If your children have a sense of adventure, love to explore outdoors and you are keen for them to learn new skills, orienteering is the perfect sport for you!
Come and get involved in a sport that the whole family can enjoy together and where your little ones can make new friends, have fun in the fresh air and most importantly, burn off all that excess energy!

Why orienteering is great for families

Our sport is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. That means that whether you are still venturing out with baby carriers or prams, your little ones are just taking their first steps, or they are ready to race to punch those control markers there is a way  for everyone to get involved.

Navigate courses at your own pace and in your own time while exploring a wide array of locations from local parks, green spaces and forested areas.

The benefits of getting young people into orienteering

It's exciting!

Young children are intuative and their natural instinct is to explore. By exposing them to the great outdoors, while completing challenges like an orienteering course you are enhancing their brain development.

Fun for everyone

Not only will you introduce your family to lots of new areas, our permanent and virtual orienteering courses take out the stress of planning which routes you should take – just follow the map!

Help them build skills for life

From learning to read a map, to developing communication and problem solving skills, orienteering is a great sport to encourage team-building amongst your family unit.

Family fun for all

Stay fit together

Orienteering encourages the whole family to stay fit together. It's a truly unique sport in that anyone and everyone can get involved whether they choose to walk, jog or run a course. As you become more familiar with how to complete a course, you will find you are more keen to set yourself challenges such as a time limit within which you have to navigate your way around.

A sport that promotes confidence

Completing an orienteering course leaves you with a sense of achievement. By encouraging your family to work together to accomplish a course, it's a great way to work together, bond and build on those navigation skills.
